Skaven

http://mclub.com.ua/images/alb/cover18993_74228.jpg

This EP was one of the very few releases that this band did, unfortunately. Dark, super heavy female-fronted crust/doom from Oakland. I don't know much about this band except that they did a split with Dystopia and another with Stormcrow. I would love to hear more from this band, so if you know where I can get a hold of either of those splits, let me know.

Revocation - Empire of the Obscene

http://images.metalirium.com/news/2008/maj/revocation.jpg

Revocation plays old school thrash metal. I would compare them to Death, but heavier. In fact, they covered Death when I saw them play in my basement. Plus, the cover for this album looks like a more evil Barad Dur, which makes me love them even more. They're from Boston, which I find weird, because when I think of Boston I don't think of metal. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time there, but most of what I know of the place is hardcore and anarcho-punk/crust. Anyway, if you're into 80's thrash, check these guys out.

The Endless Blockade - Turn Illness Into a Weapon

http://www.spirit-of-metal.com/les%20goupes/T/The%20Endless%20Blockade/Turn%20Illness%20Into%20A%20Weapon/Turn%20Illness%20Into%20A%20Weapon.jpg

This album is the definition of insanity. Seriously. The Endless Blockade are definitely one of the best and most technical powerviolence bands going right now. This is their first full-length album and as soon as I heard it I was hooked. I played with this band a few years ago before I heard any of their recordings and was completely blown away. Tempos change in the blink of an eye and then change again halfway through said blink. Their second album, Primitive, has definite Man Is the Bastard and Neanderthal influence, namely the more noisy albums that they did. Mothra (the last track on this album) is unbelievably maniacal. This shit will destroy your life.

Amebix Reunion

So if you haven't heard, Amebix has reunited and re-recorded old songs. They also are releasings a DVD. I haven't done much research on this reunion, but I checked out their re-recorded songs today and they're fucking amazing. The vocals are just so much more disgusting and destructive, and the drumming is much more advanced, but not so much as to take away from Amebix's notorious simplicity. There's also cool new synth parts that add a lot of substance to the songs, especially Winter.

I heard that they might tour the U.S. I don't know much details on this, so if you do, let me know. If this happens, I'm putting my life on hold and I'm going to go to every fucking U.S. show that they play. I'm extremely psyched on new Amebix activity, so that's why I'm posting this.

Bands I Love

This blog will just be a bunch of music by bands that I'm into at the time. Mostly crust and thrash metal and things of the sort, but occassionally there will be the anachronistic indie, classical, or blues album. Just expect it.
